Hi there!  Welcome to my Perfect Day Blog as of March 2026!

So much has happened this past year that all cannot be told in this recap.  But I’ll try.

December 28, 2024-January 3, 2025, I was serving as lead camp cook for Bible Baptist Church’s Winter Camp.  Henry’s Place, just south of Cedar City, Utah, seemed to be a good place to find snow but not that year!  Desert dwelling campers had to be driven up to Cedar Breaks to experience the cold white stuff.  Many didn’t like it at all.  The toddlers fell into deep snow drifts.  Cold fingers didn’t care for snow balling longer than five minutes!  Back to Henry’s Place for a warm, delicious welcome.   After camp, my loving church family retired me.  Twenty-Five years was long enough.  A wonderful lady with vision and heart for this ministry came forth and took over!  What Joy!

Shortly thereafter I flew to Washington, DC to be with family for two weeks.  I happened to be there when President Trump was inaugurated.  It was deadly cold, so ceremonies were moved inside which I thought was safer and more pleasant on all counts!   We just stayed home and enjoyed our comfy home; fridge treats and one another!  I watched football with my son-in-law, enjoyed my daughter, two high school granddaughters and friends at GraceWay, my church in DC.

Late January was an annual meeting at Grace Baptist Church in Corona, California.  While there I was privileged to connect with victims of the horrific LA fires.  Their home was not burned but heavily smoked damage and not livable for nearly a year.  The insurance process was disappointing for everyone, slow and low financially.  Of course, those huge classic homes and neighborhoods will never be anything like they were.  So many lives uprooted.  Hearing my friends’ story helped me pray faithfully for months considering the multitudes displaced and endless hoops and red tape of recovery or any sort of normalcy.

February included a family cruise down the coast of Mexico celebrating my oldest daughter’s 50th birthday.  My daughter from DC surprised her sister, showing up just as the photo was taken before we boarded.  Upon returning home my LV granddaughter’s goat had three kids.  So cute!  She shared them with some young friends.  I drove to Northern Nevada to see clients, stayed with a dear friend then drove on to Carson City to meet our legislators regarding insurance policy.

In May I drove to Yuma for three days to help my sister-in-law with her mother, preparing for a move to Kent, Washington.  By May 15th I was back in Las Vegas and on the road to Meridian, Idaho.  There I enjoyed a graduating grandson, wedding of a special couple, and just being in the beautiful state of Idaho with family and friends.

I drove my Buick Encore headed to Kent.  From Walla Walla on Hwy 12 I saw such beautiful sights.  Crossing the Cascades in the shadow of Mt. Ranier I passed beautiful mountain forests, saw many streams and falls, glaciers , fog, snow, then into the hills on the west side.  All a blessing to my eyes.  Another great visit with my two brothers and their families.  Drove home on South I-5 into California, saw my niece and friends in Oroville, Redondo Beach and San Pedro.

Got back home in time for fireworks fundraising with my church family. This is how we raise money for camp.  My delightful job is to run cold treats, watermelon, sodas and candies to keep the troops going during the high temperature days.  God has protected and blessed this effort for 25 years.

July 27 through Aug 1, was Summer Camp at Whispering Pines in Prescott, Arizona.  This time I was a part time helper in the kitchen, mainly doing dishes. I was free to observe crafts, game time and other activities, even take a nap if needed.  Nice changes for me.

As an insurance broker September till December 7th is my time to help clients and their friends make choices regarding Medicare plans for the new year.  Also, in October Bible Baptist celebrated 60 years of faithfully teaching, preaching and serving the Lord Jesus Christ.  It was an amazing week of mild weather, great preachers, fellowship, and memories.  I’d been a member for 32 years.  Thanksgiving came next, with my Utah family coming for two days.  They made a point of staying because they knew this would be the last time they’d see me for a while.  On December 18th, I got in my car once again and headed to my new location, Fort Washington, Maryland.  I’m at home with my middle daughter and family for the duration, whatever that may be.  God knows.  I officially retire as of April 30th.  I’ve come to serve the Lord and the seniors of GraceWay Baptist Church in the Eastern Market of Washington, D.C. What Joy!
